Why Is China So Much Cheaper?

1. Volume-Based Procurement (VBP). The national government pools purchasing across all public hospitals and negotiates directly with manufacturers. Implants and drugs — the largest cost drivers in surgery — dropped 70–90% from list prices. The hip you receive is the same design sold in American hospitals, procured at Chinese regulated prices.

2. Government-regulated procedure fees. Public hospitals cannot set arbitrary surgical fees. A CABG's professional fee is set by provincial price schedules — not by hospital revenue targets.

3. No insurance middleman economy. US hospital bills are inflated by insurance negotiation, coding, prior-authorization infrastructure and cost-shifting from uninsured patients. China's public system has none of that stack.

4. Currency and cost of living. Highly trained surgeons, nurses and staff cost a fraction of their US equivalents, in a country where world-class infrastructure is built at Chinese construction costs.

Cheap — or Actually Good?

The hospitals in our network are Grade 3A — China's highest public hospital classification — teaching institutions performing thousands of major surgeries annually. Individual surgeons routinely exceed 300 procedures per year, several times typical Western volume, and volume is one of the strongest predictors of surgical outcomes.
